Our Picks: Skis and Boards

Looking for a new set up? We asked our team what their go to skis and boards are that you should consider.

Kelley: K2 Powder Skis (prices start at $239 and go up to $850)

Jamie: Neversummer Heritage (Neversummer boards can range from around $620 to almost $1200)

Pat: Burton Good Company 55, Burton Cartel Binding, and Burton Photon Boots (Burton boards can range in price with some costing as little as $169 all the way up to almost $1800)

Lizzy: K2 (all mountain skis start as low as $179 and go as high as $949)

Daliah: Atomics (It appears many of their skis aren’t available online. You maybe able to find gear at a shop listed on our best shops in the tristate)

Rich: Line Blades on East Coast Hard pack or my Romp Customs for some deeper snow days. (Line skis cost up to $799)

Andy: K2 (touring skis can run as much as $849)

Jacob: Arbor Foundation Rocker board (the boards can go for as low as $299 and up to $549)

Lindsey: Burton LTR (check out Burton’s board collection on it’s website)

The takeaways:

FOR SKIERS: K2 is a solid option regardless of your terrain of choice. Based in Seattle Washington, K2 Sports has become one of the top names in skiing and snowboarding but it seems to be the brand of choice for the skiers among us. There are a number of shops where you can find the ski that’s right for you like the REI Flagship location in Soho.

FOR SNOWBOARDERS: If you play an association game with the word snowboarding, chances are pretty high Burton will be an answer. That’s because it’s synonymous with the sport — likely because it's been on the forefront in the gear game for pretty much its entire history. Luckily for New Yorkers there is a brick and mortar retail location in the heart of Manhattan where you can find the board that works for you.
